The pet door was very easy to install in principle, but there are some factors you will need to be aware of.1) The flap for the extra large door is about 6 in. above the floor (not as low as shown in the product picture). If you have multiple dogs of various sizes, the smaller dogs may have initial problems hopping over the higher threshold.2) The door works best if you have a sliding door with locks that are flush with the inner surfaces of the frame. If you have a protruding latch, you will have to either accept a gap on one side (which will allow bugs to enter), or you'll have to get out a grinder and cut a notch in the insert to give clearance for the latch.3) The knobs at the top of the insert that lock it in place may interfere with the frame of the sliding door and not allow it to completely seat in the frame. Additional weather stripping may be necessary to close that gap.

I needed a dog door for my vinyl sliding glass door, but I wanted something I could easily remove periodically. i bought this and installed it in the screen door track rather than the main door. I also was able to lower the rise which was too high for my dog: remove the dog door plastic frame, unscrew the aluminum panel just below it using the 4 screws on the side, slide the panel up to meet the glass panel, reinstall the plastic dog door frame. There are actually 2 panels below the dog door and I moved the topmost one. Now it's perfect!

This is a high quality window product, and magnitized pet door (my male cat loves it and can't stop using it in front of my male dog). The door is the ideal size but rather high for both my maltese/terrier dogs, so I placed two pillows as soft steps in front of it. This product is great, however the design has changed from what is shown in the picture. The pet door opening is now 8 inches off the ground instead of 4 inches like the original design in the picture. This is OK for tall dogs but a potential problem for shorter large dogs (like my bulldog!)
