The Plexidor offers a unique and what Pet Door Store considers to be one of the most attractive dog doors on the dog-pet door market. Their solution is to use 2 dual pane hardened acrylic flaps which swing open from the center like a saloon door (extra large uses two single pane flaps, small uses a single dual pane flap). These rigid flaps are easier to seal than flexible vinyl. This door uses pile weather-stripping around the flap to seal it to the frame. The doors are spring loaded to return to the closed position.
With the advantages of a nearly unbreakable flap and good insulation, the Plexidor is a good choice for severe climates. This door comes with two different locking mechanisms. The door flaps can be locked in the closed position with a key, and the door also comes with a bolt on security cover in medium and larger sizes (small uses a knob lock, no key, no cover). There is an optional rail setup which allows the steel cover to slide into place for day to day use. Where most pet doors require periodic flap replacement, the Plexidor usually only requires a spring replacement every 3-5 years, making it less costly to maintain. Now available in silver (clear anodized), white (baked enamel), and bronze (anodized) frame colors.
