The UV-4 Black Light counterfeit currency detector verifies UV security features on authentic banknotes.
UV security features are made with non-visible dyes and only visible under UV light. If the UV security features glow when subjected to the UV light, then the banknote is expected to be authentic.
Typically paper used in printing real US currency has a high starch content making it appear dull under UV light. When counterfeiters use bond paper (which has no starch and is bleached), t

glows a unique color under an ultraviolet black light
. The thread in a US bill will glow blue, a US -bill thread glows green and a US 0 bill glows pink under the UV light. If it doesn't glow, it is not likely to be real.
